Have a fun and safe holiday! Please remember that if you dress your fur kids up to allow them to move and see freely! Over the collar bandannas and festive collars are a great way to show your holiday spunk without making your fur kids uncomfortable (and it keeps puppies from chewing up costumes you worked hard on!)! Have a great time! Post your best Halloween pics in the comments!
Today! For your viewing pleasure comes the most photogenic dog compilation video as submitted to The Pet Collective. Enjoy your Cinematic Sunday! Aren't they cute?!
Our little girl is getting so big! Over 50 lbs now!!! So her crate is now FULLY EXPANDED and she has so much room to sleep at night and chew on things while mom and dad are gone! Hard to believe she's over 40 heavier than she was when she got here. We are so glad we went with a large crate to start with that had a divider to grow with her! Such a good money saver! Definately would recommend to anyone getting a large breed puppy!!!
Her in her (tiny version of the) crate early on is below. #puppylove #theygrowsofast
Our sorrow and our love goes out to all those who were personally effected by the attacks 15 years ago. Additional blessings to any of our followers who have lost friends and/or family members in the war that ensued since then.
NPR recently did a feature about the last (known) 9/11 search dog dying at age 16. The article can be read here.
May the world find peace again someday. Until then, be at peace with yourself and know your furbabies love you.
We told you our little girl was going to be a model! While mom and dad were on their camping honeymoon, they took this shot of Reagan and KONAleashes decided to use it on their Instagram! We are so proud of our pup (and can't believe how tiny she looks even just a month ago!)!! We love this leash and it has so far even stood up to the puppy teeth!
Hi all! How are you all?? We hate that we have been gone for so long, but it means that we had time to queue up some posts, and update the site a little! So take a look around and let us know what you love and what could be better :)
HEY EVERYONE! We are so sorry for our unannounced hiatus! We are stocking up the queue and we will be hitting you hard again coming September! Things just got too crazy when the humans got married in mid-July and so we seriously apologize! Coming back Sept 1 and in the meantime keep up with us on Instagram and Twitter :)
Hey everyone! So as pet parents, we have to take good care of our babies. So, we thought we would share with you our typical grooming routine! Remember, we have 3 domestic shorthair cats and a black lab puppy. Neither of these breeds need excessive grooming, so take this with a grain of salt. This is what works for our family of simple coats!
Every month we all have a bath! I tend to do the cats all in one fail swoop just bringing in one and then the other and then the other. We love Earth Bath natural shampoos. They are gentle and are easy to wash out. Plus they always smell good! For the puppy, we also do a bath once a month but she is a bit more involved. Since labs have a waterproofing to their coats, we love to use the Furminator Curry Comb to really rub the shampoo into her undercoat and down to her skin. Again, we use Earth Bath Puppy Shampoo (which smells like cherries!!). After everyone is thoroughly mad de-shampooed, we get swaddled in a towel for as long as allowed and then a full brush out. The kitties just get a simple Furminator rake though the coat to pull of any extra dead fur. The puppy gets the royal treatment and first gets Furminator rake and then the Furminator Dual Dog brush which has a slicker type brush on one side, and a soft bristle on the other to soften it out. We tend to try to do our bath the week before our flea/tic multi spot treatment so that we interfere with it as little as possible even though the Earth Bath shampoos promise not to mess with it. Just an easy way to remember for us.
Once a week we try to get everybody brushed. In the summer and major shedding seasons, it tends to be with the Furminator De-Shedding tools. Right now we are using a short haired cat one for all four babies, but as Reagan grows, we will update her to a larger brush to save some work! we love to then do a wipe down with the Earth Bath wipes to get off the final hairs that are clinging on. We do front paws every week, and tend to do back claws every other since they get more wore down in day to day activities. We also all get a nail trim each week. Right now we are using some guillotine type clippers and we love it for the kittens! It works great and I just snip snip snip from paw to paw (don't forget the dew claws!). With Reagan we are looking at moving towards a nail grinder. As a black lab, her nails are also ebony black which means mom can't see the kwik inside of her nails. Thus, with a grinder we can slowly buff the nail a tiny bit at a time instead of a snip that might get her kwik and then we have a lot of blood. It seems like a safer way to go and we will let you know how it turns out when we get it!
There is no real routine here, but we try to keep the eye goop at bay (Sasha gets a lot of eye goop!) and the paws/chins clean after meals (especially if you feed raw!) and things like that. Every once in awhile I run an Earth Bath wipe though everyone's ears to keep any wax build up to a minimum. A broken nail might need a trim to grow back correctly, a wash of the collars or a wipe down of tags sometimes needs to happen with young, feisty animals. Additionally, all pets that go outside might need a paw wipe depending on weather and terrain.

We are so proud to announce that Reagan has been accepted as a model and sales rep for KONAleashes! We are so excited and thrilled to have been chosen! We ordered our first set and we will be anxious to share with you all how much we come to love this brand! 20% of each product they sell goes back to shelters and animals in need- something close to the Adoptable Family heart. Watch the KONAleashes Instagram and hashtags for upcoming shots of Reagan!
We all know they grow way too fast! Send us in videos or before/after shots of your baby growing up (or at least getting older) and we will post the best ones right here!
In case you missed it on our Instagram or Twitter....this is little Reagan Ann Martin! She is a purebred Labrador Retriever and has been adopted into our little family! The kitties still have some adjusting to do, but mom and dad are THRILLED and busy working on leash and house training!
Okay. So I know we have raved about Kong before (see our general overview, dog toys by age, and their other products on our endorsements page!), but as we are in our final days before a puppy arrives, we are totally in love. We have filled 3 puppy classic Kongs with PB, honey, and kibble freezing to help with teething, we have puppy teether sticks, a fuzzy alligator, a puppy wubba a crate, and even a crate pad on the way! They are so versatile- you can use there easy treat goop, or make your own! There are recipes for more complex yummies on the website! *just make sure you Peanut Butter has no artificial sweetners!!!* Kong is flawless. They last longer than most toys, they adapt for older and younger dogs, small and large breeds, and make quality supplies for all! Yay inclusion for all puppies and their guardians!
So are you ready for a long weekend and a lot of play time with your furry friend? After out last endorsement for ChuckIt, here are 5 breeds of dog that are surprisingly good at fetch! You don't need a retriever or a coon hound to have a great game of fetch! Check out if your pup made the list!

There was a tiny baby clouded leopard cub just chilling at a Tampa zoo! How adorable! Do your babies (of any age) do sleep in silly ways like this? Tell us all about it! Being 6 weeks is exhausting!
The Two Legged Family
Our parents met at Drake University and got married in July of 2016. They take excellent care of us to the best of their abilities and love us so much! Mom works at a Doggie Daycare most days and an all natural cat boutique when they need the extra help. Dad runs sound at a local jazz club. They both grew up with animals and believe fully that their collegiate lives were lacking until they adopted a kitty to come home with them.
